Hidden Costs Nobody Mentions Upfront

The upgrade trap. Support Team at $19/agent has no CSAT, no SLAs, no business hours. It's a demo tier. Most teams land at $55-115 within months.

AI cost stacking. Advanced AI ($50) + Copilot ($50) + resolution overages can double your per-agent cost. Suite Pro at $115 becomes $215+ before Talk charges.

Storage overages. Enforced since late 2023. File and data storage are capped. Exceeding limits costs extra per unit.

Talk is per-minute on top of everything. High-volume call centers can exceed their subscription cost in Talk charges alone.

5-7% annual escalation. Contracts typically include built-in price increases at renewal. Your $115/agent today is $123/agent next year, $131 the year after.

Professional services cost extra. Implementation, training, custom configuration are all separate engagements, not publicly priced.

What Changed in 2025-2026

Outcome-based AI pricing (August 2024). Pay per AI resolution ($1.50 committed, $2.00 pay-as-you-go) layered on top of per-seat costs. The biggest structural pricing change in years.

AI Dynamic Pricing (November 2024). Enterprise-only flexible contracts that let you shift budget between human seats and AI resolution credits without renegotiating.

Copilot bundles (2025). Suite Pro + Copilot at $155 and Suite Enterprise + Copilot at $209. Cheaper than buying separately.

Storage enforcement (late 2023, ongoing). Previously soft limits became hard limits with per-unit overage costs.

No Per-Seat Alternative

Supp charges $0.20 per classified message. No seats, no monthly base, no add-on stacking. 1,000 tickets/month costs about $200-300 total regardless of team size.

Not a Zendesk replacement for teams that need phone support, SLAs, and enterprise reporting. But if your main cost driver is per-seat pricing on a growing team, it's worth comparing.
